Goal
The objective of Serial Serifs is to be an all-in-one resource for designers dealing with typography.
Execution
In order to accomplish the goal, the book is divided into two sections.
The first of these two is a comprehensive guide to the rules of typesetting. This section covers everything from terminology and rules pertaining to things such as orphans and widows, to best practices when mixing serifs and sans-serifs.
The second part of the book is an in-depth guide to the history of type design, and the use of typography in art and design through the ages. The book starts in the late 1800s with the Industrial Revolution, and works its way up to the present day, decade by decade.
Each of these chapters feature a:
Brief recap of the historical events going on at that time, as well as insight into how those events affected the designs of that era.
Pack of typefaces that were created in that decade, including many that are still used today!
Profile on one of the decade's most noteworthy designers, and examples of their work.
Sample color palette.
Showcase of some of the best or most iconic examples of art and design from that time, ranging from fine art to poster and editorial design.
"Design then, now" section, where a new design is created using the style of that era from the past.

Transparency Note:
This book was created with large amounts of writing generated by Artificial Intelligence, alongside my own contributions. It also includes a mix of historical artworks and some pieces I created myself. Because of this, the creator has elected to not make any profit from its sales—any costs cover only production and distribution.
